I am honored to share with you one of the most humbling and beautiful true stories I've heard in a while. It is a story of selflessness, a picture of redemption and of healing, a reminder of goodness, a mighty fist against brutality and a proclamation of victory.
Read this amazing story on one of my favorite blogger's, My Sweet Savannah's, site.
After reading something like this, you cannot deny that goodness is innate. You cannot deny that hope and healing are not only in existence among us, but it is vibrant. Pay it forward!
Shug: More than anything God love admiration. Celie: You saying God is vain? Shug: No, not vain, just wanting to share a good thing. I think it pisses God off when you walk by the colour purple in a field and don't notice it. -The Color Purple

Celebrating Mrs. Fennig
Kristen, one of my best friends in the world, came to Portland to visit me this past weekend!

Her birthday was a few weeks before she came, and I of course was not able to attend her party in Orange County, so Tom and I threw her a mini-fete in my little studio right when we picked her up from the train station. I debuted my first pennant flag banner:
(which looked much better hung up)

We served champagne with blood oranges, which was just an experiment, but we loved how it turned out - great color too (will definitely use clear glasses next time...these great green glasses, however, were a college graduation gift from the beautiful Morgan White, who just started her own blog. Go check it out for great bargain finds: Modern Girls Deals)!

Tom made one of his famous cakes that I had yet to sample - with dark chocolate cream cheese frosting... I mean come ON... it was amazing!

We had a great weekend, and it was so nice to have a dear friend in town!

bulletin board.
So now that I've been here for almost 2 months, there are some things that I just can't blame on having "just moved in" anymore, and they need to be finished. One of them is my beloved bulletin board. She needs a frame, and she needs it bad:

It was so fun to make, dying coffee filters with tea, and then hot glueing the pheasant feathers onto the middle of the flower. I love how it turned out, but without a frame, it looks flimsy, and it blends into the wall behind it.

SIDE NOTE: it's getting beautiful in Oregon. My man and I went snowshoeing and made a picnic on our camping stove at Mt. Hood last weekend. In our T-shirts!!

After days on end filled with grey and rain, this day was SUCH a nice break!
Welp, I'm making it my goal this weekend to find a frame and finish this puppy. Hopefully this is the last time you'll see it looking like this:
Have a great weekend! xo
